I am a self-taught which likes to create creatures and characters.
I have a fondness for concept art, in particular regarding fantasy, sci-fi and steampunk subjects, with some occasional fan arts.
For sketches, WIPs, previews and other stuff unposted here:
As you may know I rarely post journals, but I'd like to hear your opinion about an idea bouncing in my mind since some time: that is, I'm thinking of opening a Patreon page.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is a crowdfunding website; however, differently from most similar sites, it is not oriented towards the realization of a specific project, but aims to support creators in their production.
Therefore, donations are a recurring commitment of a small amount (e.g. 1$/month), not a single big contribution.
Like in other similar services, the supporters (a.k.a. patrons) receive some kind of reward in return.
Beyond the simple and pure representation, what motivates me most is to create, in the broadest sense of the term. May it be creatures, characters or worlds, representation becomes the ideal medium to communicate something that exists only in my imagination.
The creation process behind my concepts is something that requires time: the realization of the design itself is preceded by a phase of information gathering, in order to achieve a result both consistent and believable (despite the inherently imaginative nature of my works).
Over the years I have conceived a variety of ideas, that I like to think of as part of the same multiverse, but for now they are still mere separated fragments: Hive, Dark Dimension and the Gargola series are examples, concepts that follow a logical construction but are not included in a broader organic context yet.
In Patreon I see the opportunity to achieve the support necessary to devote more time to the population of a broad and cohesive imaginary universe.
Through Patreon, my followers would have access to extra contents in addition to what I already post: there would be previews, more “behind the scenes”, personalized sketches on request and more.
I like to work on my concepts and share them, so I will keep on posting the definitive versions of my works on DeviantArt and Facebook for free, independently from the opening of a new page.
However, the initiation and maintenance of such a thing would require some investment of resources, so before I proceed I'd like to have your opinion, similarly to some kind of poll.
Would you be interested in delving into the lore of my worlds and see your characters drawn by me?
Some months ago I decided to post no more WIPs here on DA, but only the finished pieces.
Anyway, I don't like to stay for too much time without some new content, so at the following link you can find my latest WIP
Let me know what do you think about it (either here or in my FB page)!
